Good fan, with a few compromises
This is an innovative fan, and I really do like the foldaway blades, which work quite well. The most amazing part is having a fan that just looks like an oversized light most of the time!
Now for the downsides:
- The bulb is a florescent light, which means there's no dimming it. I wish it were an LED light, so that you could dim it. Even a conventional light would be fine.
- The fan and light ONLY turn on using the remote, and not with the wall switch. The remote has a handy wall-mount so you can place it on top of or near the wall switch, but the fact that you need the remote to turn on the fan/light seems like a design flaw. I wish it were an either/or, with perhaps only the fan requiring the use of the remote. This is when you wish fans had firmware updates!

Good Fan, Crap Bulb
The fan works as you imagine with its blades gracefully extending itself and then retracting when off. However the bulb temp is 4000k, which makes it wonderful for tropical plants but not good for human eyes. Highly recommend replacing the bulb with a 3000k temp.
I am currently trying to sort out a light flickering problem with Hunter. When the fan is off but the light is on, it flickers very noticeably. When I turn the fan on, the light stops flickering. So it may have something to do with the ballast or receiver. I will follow-up when I have a response from the manufacturer.
Overall, the fan is good quality and looks good. It's too bad Hunter didn't focus more on the design of the light. Also, there should be optional down-tubes or the ability for the fan to sit flush with the ceiling base.
Great fan!
This was a risky choice since it is so odd but we are enjoying it. It a nice quiet fan and the light is nice and bright. The only negative is the light quality is kind of cool.
