You MUST have 4 wires for this fan to work
First, I should say that I love the way this fan looks and the quality. It is a really nice, modern looking fan. It's small and it's a flush mount and that is hard to find.
I should say here that I am comfortable installing fixtures, but am by no means an electrician, and for this reason, it was not obvious to me that you need to have the hot, the neutral, the ground, and then a fourth wire that runs from the fan to the wall switch. This is because there is no pull chain to control the light and fan separately. Everything happens at the switch. I wish that they had made this more obvious in the description because now I have to have an electrician come to my house and run a new wire.
So, 5 stars on quality, but 2 stars on item description.

Nice Small Fan with a BIG wind
I was a bit skeptical when i pulled this tiny fan out of a very tiny box thinking oh, oh never be able to get any airflow out of this thing. Man was I wrong. The unit works as advertised and is actually a lot more powerful than any of the Fans i have ever purchased at your local "do it yourself chain". I would recommend this (or two of theses)for any typical sized rooms. The unit is solid and comes with everything neeeded for the do it yourself handyman.
Useless Light
The fan part is great. Love the engineering, easy to put up by yourself, puts out enough breeze for a small bedroom. The breeze is pretty localized right under the fan though. I guess you would expect that for such short blades and an 8' ceiling. It is also very quiet right out of the box. I did not have to balance it. With the blades being so short, I guess that is not really surprising either. The instructions say to run it for a little while and it will get quieter. It seems pretty quiet, easy to sleep with. However, the light is beyond useless. Come with a 50w halogen bulb and a very smokey light cover. Just enough light for a night light if you are afraid of the complete darkness. Tried a 75w halogen bulb, not much help. There is enough light with the cover off, but it is very harsh and ugly without the cover. I will be keeping the fan, but buying an additional light for my daughter's room. I don't like giving products a bad rating, but if you can't tell, I am pretty...
